Celtic wish rising star Rocco Vata a Happy 18th Birthday

Celtic have wished rising star, Rocco Vata a Happy 18th Birthday today via the club’s Twitter account. The prodigious attacker is knocking on the door to the Celtic team presently along with young Ben Summers, and Ange has rewarded them for their efforts with the B-team by exposing them to first team action of late.

Both players came on at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon in Ayrshire and it can only be a good thing for them and the club moving forward. For too long now our younger players have been moving away from Celtic Park to seek more opportunities and we have suffered a major dearth in talent during the process.

It’s great to see a manager being true to his word about introducing youngsters who deserve a shot at the first team environment getting the actual minutes on the pitch. Young Rocco has huge potential, as does his comrade Ben Summers and both men will have a taste of what it’s like now playing for the manager and how he likes his team to play.

The demands are high and although it’s all about protecting the talents, they will have to understand about the standards that Ange has set and why nobody can fall below them. Joe Hart spoke the other day about this very point and revealed his pleasure at being at a football club that is always looking ahead to the next trophy. It’s not easy, but it is very rewarding.

Hopefully young Rocco Vata can keep up the great work and force his way into the starting XI at some point in the future. It would be great to see.

Happy Birthday, Rocco!

About Author

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
