The 24-year-old arrived in the summer from Royal Antwerp after a drawn out transfer pursuit by Celtic. The Scottish Champions signed the player for £4.5m with some suggesting that the deal was excessive for the Congo International.
Brendan Rodgers gave the player his debut at Ibrox in a dreadful 0-0 draw and it was a quiet afternoon. Since then, he has made just twelve further appearances, assisting on two occasions.
Despite returning from AFCON duty last week, Balikwisha was not included in the Matchday squad for Celtic’s games against Dundee United and Falkirk. As Celtic face the challenge at the Falkirk Stadium, fans noticed that the player had changed his Instagram feed to delete any mention of Celtic, including changing his profile picture.

Martin O’Neill used the player sparingly during his first interim spell and clearly he does not fancy him at this stage. The Celtic bench this evening was light on attacking options and it did not appear that Balikwisha was suffering from any injury.
Hopefully there isn’t much to this other than speculation. The winger will be hoping to work his way into the starting XI or find a move elsewhere.

Guy clearly isn’t up to it. Winger that doesn’t take players on, who gave the ok for him?
Have said it since he signed, and I mean absolutely no disrespect to any professional footballer, but he’s simply not good enough. Not by a long shot. I cannot understand who scouted Balikwisha all that time and thought he had the pace and skill to enhance our attacking options. He doesn’t. Simple as that.
On no occassion has he jogged on to the pitch and somebody, anybody, has made a peep of excitement that we have a match winner coming on to save the day.
It’s not his fault we signed him (it’s Tisdale’s isn’t it), but it’s not our fault he’s not good enough.
He’s utter trash, There’s the argument anyone can look good in a YouTube highlights video. His highlights looked horrible before we signed him. Idiot Rodgers chased him 6 months, he got bad injury, Rodgers continued chasing him another 12 months, Year & half chasing a poor athlete. wouldnt even call him a footballer.
The poor guy didn’t sign himself—-From his first appearence in the game against theRangers , he didn’t even look as though he had seen a football ? This is probably one of the reasons BR got his marching orders ?
