Celtic’s AGM – start time, talking points and where to watch

Celtic’s AGM will take place today, allowing shareholders to air their questions regarding the operations at the club and plans for the future. Ange Postecoglou’s arrival and immediate impact has taken the focus off of the Celtic Boardroom but the support will finally have an opportunity to ask about personnel, deals and a lot about plans for the future.

Start Time

The AGM of Celtic PLC will be held at Celtic Park on Wednesday 17 November 2021 at 11:30am.

Talking Points

There will likely be a lot questions during the course of AGM but the key talking points will centre around the last season and summer before the plans for the future, both short term and further ahead.

Last Season – The AGM will offer fans the chance to air their grievances over last season, the decision to retain Neil Lennon for as long as the club did, the trip to Dubai, transfer failings etc. Maybe, the questions will be limited given the arrival of Postecoglou has sparked a revival at the club after the disappointing end of the club’s stranglehold over Scottish Football.

Recruitment – Much will be made of enormous rebuilding job that Ange Postecoglou inherited in the summer and how busy the recruitment department were in the summer, building a team suitable for the Australian. There will likely be questions about future recruitment and even recruitment staff coming in to ensure that the best players are identified regardless of where they are based, something that the manager is big on.

Plans for the Future – Celtic’s former CEO Dominic McKay spoke in the summer of modernising and making the club a model of progress. However, given his exit, there are concerns that Michael Nicholson will continue the same plans for the future as McKay. Fans are hoping that the agenda will remain and Celtic can forge ahead with Postecoglou and building a new era of success at the club.

With £40m in Champions League money at stake to the winners of the League this year, it goes without saying that the club will be aware of the importance of regaining our crown but it is likely that it will be reiterated.

Bernard Higgins – the rumoured appointment of ACC Higgins to a role in Security will likely be brought up given the amount of backlash the suggestion that the Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable could be set to be hired, despite all of his association with the failed Offensive Behaviour Act.

Gordon Strachan’s Review – fans will likely be keen to hear about the three month review that was commissioned by the club over the summer featuring former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan reviewing the club, out with the first team.

Where to Watch

Shareholders have been invited to the Kerrydale Suite for the AGM, after missing out last year. Those that cannot make it can sign up via Zoom, allowing them to interact on the proceedings at Paradise. Unfortunately, this appears to be for shareholders only so unless a stream is made readily available, we will need to rely on social media for updates.

Non-shareholders can follow updates from across Celtic Twitter with Celtic Underground, The Celtic Trust and a host of other accounts likely to post live updates as it progresses.
