Celtic’s Alistair Johnston injury worry ahead of Rangers Final

Celtic have a potential injury concern ahead of Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup Final against Rangers. Alistair Johnston was substituted at half time in this evening’s game against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.

The fullback required treatment after a clumsy challenge from Rog, who merited a yellow card for the central midfielder. The injury appeared to create an issue for the Canadian as he held his left leg. The right back made it to the break but was substituted for the second half with Tony Ralston coming on.

It looked like Johnston was in trouble win and the likely explanation was that it was as a result of the tackle. Although, it could have been a planned sub with the Scotland Internationalist coming on.

It may be a case of a precautionary substitution by Brendan as he looks to ensure that AJ is fit for Sunday. However, if he is not fit then Celtic will have a very capable backup in Ralston. The benefit to the game taking place on a Tuesday evening means that there will be adequate time  for Johnston to rest and recuperate with a view to getting back in training ahead of the weekend.
