Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou named in list of best 50 managers in the world

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been named in list of best 50 managers in the world. The Australian arrived in Glasgow’s East End in June 2021 after the disaster of the 2020/21 campaign and was tasked with an enormous rebuilding job. Against the odds, Ange oversaw Celtic’s move towards the League title and League Cup.

As decided by FourFourTwo, Postecoglou sits in 30th position, which is a phenomenal achievement for the manager on a personal level as it notes the progress that he has made becoming a household name.

“The appointment of Ange Postecoglou drew some puzzling looks from some – especially after Eddie Howe’s “will he, won’t he” Celtic saga.

“It’s safe to say he’s won the doubters over, however, with his stunning possession style, which has lifted Celtic into the Champions League group stage again.

“The Australian is already being tipped for massive jobs – and after a stint at City Football Group side Yokohama F. Marinos, he’s had a Vieira-like transition from obscurity to becoming one of the most thrilling managers in Britain.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola tops the table. Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti, who Celtic have come up against in the Champions League. Ange will hope to get a result off of Ancelotti and Madrid in Matchday Six of the top European competition as he looks to gain qualification for the Europa League – but first he requires his side to beat Shakhtar Donestk.

There is no place for Steven Gerrard, who is nearing the sack with Aston Villa whilst his predecessor Giovanni Van Bronkhorst is ranked 44th on the list.

Celtic need to act in the coming months to secure the long term future of Postecoglou, who has been linked with  number of clubs in England. The manager is clearly committed to sustaining the growth at the club that he has helped spark but ultimately, the offers that will come his way will tempt Ange to want to test himself.
