Celtic FC Women travelled across the city to face theRangers in the quarter final of the SWPL Cup at Murray Park this afternoon and it was a horror mistake on Halloween from the home side’s keeper Fife that gave Tom the Rangers TV commentator another Whit’s the Goalie Daein” Moment.
Wellings got her shot away from 25 yards but the contact wasn’t great and it looked like a routine gather for theRangers keeper. However, quite remarkably she failed to gather and Wellings turned away surprised and delighted to have got the opening goal with 57 minutes played.
Celtic, who had hit the post early in the second half, had further chances to extend their lead but the emphasis was on the strong assured defending that limited theRangers to speculative efforts from distance.

Fran Alonso has now extended his winning run against theRangers to four wins from four matches and it has to be said Celtic thoroughly deserved the win. TheRangers goalkeeper was distraught at the final whistle, crying her wee eyes out, she’s be Simply Depressed all week by the looks of it. Niall J’s more detailed match report will follow but for now, well done to the Ghirls in Green, this one is for you…
You ghirls are amazing and im sure you have managed to put a smile on most Celtic fans this weekend with this result. Hail Hail
