Celtic’s Bosun Lawal is shining down in Lancashire

Of all the players loaned out this season by Celtic, one stands out in particular who is enjoying a stellar campaign…

Bosun Lawal of Celtic during the l Friendly match between SK Rapid Wien and Celtic at the Allianz Stadion in Wien, Austria on 9 July 2022.

Bosun Lawal has been very impressive for a struggling Fleetwood Town this season, featuring in every league game since joining the League One side in August of last year, starting in 23 of Fleetwood’s 25 league games.

The Dublin native is also an ever-present member of the Ireland u21’s, playing in every minute of their five qualifiers so far.

For both club and country, Lawal has largely been played as the central centre half in a five-back formation, but the arrival of Charlie Adam into the Fleetwood Town hot-seat has seen the 20-year-old be instead deployed in his maiden midfield position.

The Irishman often played in the centre of the park as a youngster before being switched to centre half by Darren O’Dea upon joining Celtic. Lawal has looked more than comfortable in midfield over the past number of weeks, with the players 6”2 frame along with his ball playing ability making the transition look seamless.

Charlie Adam has had plenty of praise for the Irish u21 international in recent weeks , with the Scot adamant Lawal will return to Celtic a better player. As reported by the42.ie, Charlie Adam said this about Bosun Lawal:

“How he dribbles the ball, his touches and passes – there are not many midfielders like that in the Championship in England. He has got a bright future. We will send a better player back than when he came in here.”

  1. Why are we having to tolerate Bernabei when Bosun Lawal is tearing it up down south and Liam Scales can play LB???
