Celtic’s Champions League rivals heavily beaten but still pose a massive threat

Celtic’s Champions League rivals RB Leipzig fell to a 3-0 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach earlier today. Marco Rose’s side were on the receiving end of two goals from Germany international Jonas Hofmann as well as a third from Bensebaini.

Leipzig sit 12th in the Bundesliga and Rose will need to arrest the slump in form that saw his predecessor lose his job. The teams will meet on 5th of October in Germany and then again on the 11th of October at Paradise. Celtic are third in the table with one point coming from the draw against Shakhtar Donetsk. Leipzig, meanwhile, are bottom with no points having been beaten by the Ukrainian club and then Madrid.

The head-to-head against the German club will be pivotal in deciding where Celtic end up in the group with Real Madrid destined to win the group. However, Borussia Dortmund will be able to tell everyone about the risks of taking Leipzig lightly. In Rose’s first game, Dortmund were on the receiving end of 3-0 defeat against his former employer.

Leipzig host Vfl Bochum on October 1st on the same day that Celtic host Motherwell. Leipzig are a well-assembled side, who have a number of dangerous players. Hopefully, the international break hasn’t come at the right time for them.
