The next three weeks will be very crucial indeed. We are only four games into the league season and despite some below par displays we are sitting four points clear of our main rivals in the table.
With all due respect to both Motherwell and St Mirren who have made a brilliant start to their own campaigns, it’s unlikely that they will be fighting for the title and it’s much more likely to be a fight between the two Glasgow giants.
We’ve got to be pleased with the league table as it stands, especially as we had two tough away fixtures in amongst that against Aberdeen and theRangers.
Celtic are of course level on points with Motherwell who have had a fantastic start to the campaign. But without being disrespectful the Steelmen won’t be there come the end of the season, and despite the patchy form of the club from Ibrox they will hit a decent spell soon enough and they will be our closest challengers.
In the Champions League a trip to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord also beckons on Tuesday 19 September.
The next few weeks will be critical in shaping our season. Away ties against Livingston (Saturday 23 September) and high-flying Motherwell (Saturday 30 September) lie in wait in the league. In the Champions League a trip to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord also beckons.

Getting a good result in the Netherlands will give us a fantastic boost. It will set us up nicely as we travel to the Tony Macaroni arena and Fir Park respectively. it’s imperative we get the maximum points as our rivals will enjoy the luxury of playing at home. We don’t want to give them any sort of advantage.
Those two away fixtures will be a tricky test for the side, but one we should be able to overcome. It’s sure going to be an interesting few weeks ahead starting with a home match against Dundee next Saturday (16 September) where hopefully Celtic have learned their lessons about missing chances at home to deep sitting sides – that cost us two points against a poor St Johnstone side in our last home match. That has to be a one-off slip and Brendan Rodgers will be well aware of the need to pick up the three points against the Taysiders.
