Celtic’s Four Man Shortlist Revealed Alongside Rodgers Talks

Stephen McGowan is one of the foremost football reporters in Scotland, who has had the ear of the Celtic board for a long time. Therefore, when he wrote that Celtic had held talks with Brendan Rodgers, the internet exploded last night. However, his article in the Scottish Daily Mail also revealed another exciting revelation.

McGowan wrote that Bodo Glimt’s Knutsen is a manager under consideration by the club, that Manchester City assistant Enzo Maresca is keen to branch out as his own man and was willing to hold talks after the Champions League final, and that Daniel Farke has held talks with the club according to Sky Germany.

It seems that these names, alongside Brendan Rodgers, completes a strong four man list. The Irishman is favourite for the role, but there’s still a possibility that the move might not materialise with either interested party potentially not agreeing on something such as wages, budgets, expectations etc.

Should Rodgers not return then the other three names are strong, each with either a strong track record or experience of working at the highest level in some capacity.

It’s an interesting four man shortlist, which gives us something to be excited about rather than just the traditional ‘Celtic man’ with no attractive footballing philosophy.

  1. A strong four man list? Maresca a coach who had a brief spell as his only managerial role with Parma ( 14 games) in Seria B and failed big time ………Strong?

Farke, a manager who’s only success has come in the English Championship and recently sacked from his post in Germany ……..Strong?

Rodgers, a manager who left us mid season for a mid table EPL Club and who is currently out of work, looking to try and raise his profile again as non of the half decent EPL Clubs are interested, look at Spurs, up to last season, he would have been favourite or at least one of the favourites for that job, wasn’t even considered ……Strong.

Only the Norwegian manager is a proven success currently and the only one on the list that could perhaps gain us some success in Europe.

  2. The only strong candidate there is Knutsen. Maresca is a coach not a manager Farke hasn’t done a lot. Rodgers…lol……left us without looking back and sacked from his last job. By the time we get round to it Knutsen will be winning with another European club. . I wonder how the players will respond to the living dead,Rodgers , after being managed by the dynamic Ange .
