Celtic youngster Clare Goldie has officially signed her first professional contract with Celtic FC. The deal lasts two-and-a-half years, meaning that the midfielder will remain at the club until summer 2026.
The promising player came through the Celtic academy and made her senior debut during a 7-0 win over Glasgow Women in October 2022. This season, she has made 11 appearances, with ten being off the bench. She has scored three goals in this time.
She is a prime example of the type of player that attracted Elena Sadiku to the club. The Swede has a tendency to focus on the youth, helping players fulfil their full potential and achieve their dreams. No doubt we will see a lot of younger players come through the academy in the next few years, with Goldie being the first to take the step from the youth setup to the first team under Elena.
Hopefully we will see more of her in the near future, as she is a player who can undoubtedly reach her full potential if she can have a good SWPL run in the squad.
It seems like we’ll be hearing more about Elena’s plan for the youth setup before the end of the season, as in her recent press conference, she said she plans to find a time to talk to the club about how they can develop the academy.
The future is certainly exciting for the youth of Celtic, and getting Goldie secured to the Hoops is a brilliant way to start!
