TONY WATT was Celtic’s hero as the then 18-year-old fired a shot beyond Valdes to give Celtic a famous win on the eve of their 125th Anniversary. Victor Wanyama scored first but it was the Coatbridge Bhoy who grabbed the winner with Lionel Messi netting in injury time.
Watt wasn’t able to get enough game time at Celtic so decided to leave the club, moving to Belgium. With a variety of moves, Watt seems to be settled into his role at Fir Park and has been showing his qualities scoring four this season and assisting a number more.
Watt seems settled in Motherwell and going about his business. Despite not having the career at Celtic that the night eight years ago suggested, he is doing well. As a result, the 26-year-old has been awarded with a new deal until 2022 with Stephen Robison’s side. Speaking to the Motherwell website, Watt said he was getting better and was wanting to remain at the Premiership side.
“I’m delighted to have signed another deal.
“The club have been great with me and I was really keen to stay longer.
“I’m settled and I feel like I am getting better and better here.
“It’s home – and I’m ready to kick on even more.”
Celtic beat the Well 4-1 on Sunday before the international break. However, it is good to see a promising youngster fulfil his potential and play well.
