Celtic’s hesitancy comes under fire by Scottish reporter

Sun journalist and Partick Thistle fan Alan Nixon claims that Celtic need to hurry up in their search for a new man at the helm – otherwise they will be ‘crucified’ for their incompetency to complete the job.

Nixon has made constant reference to Celtic’s cat and mouse chase for Eddie Howe over the last few weeks, with The Sun reporter claiming that the deal has not been straight forward due to the need for a ‘Director of Football’ post at Parkhead. Howe had reportedly had second thoughts about the job, following an amazing offer by the Celts to become the man to turn their dismal season on its head for next campaign. However, Nixon suggests otherwise.

Posting on his Twitter account in a Q&A with fans, Nixon said: “Need to fill two top posts. Both obviously not straightforward. So doing a running commentary doesn’t help… but if they fail they will be crucified.”

He isn’t wrong either; it has now passed the 70 day mark without a new manager being announced, with other clubs such as Chelsea only taking a day to switch from Frank Lampard to Thomas Tuchel – AS Roma only took 3 hours to announce Mourinho after sacking Paulo Fonseca. It is on the cusp of being ridiculous now; Celtic’s board need to ensure they don’t slip further behind in the title race with theRangers – and the first step to do this is appoint Howe and his right-hand man ASAP.
