Celtic’s Josip Juranovic a doubt for World Cup third place match

Celtic’s Josip Juranovic is a doubt for Croatia’s World Cup third-place playoff match on Saturday. The 27-year-old has been mightily impressive for Croatia as they made the Semi Final before a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina to victory and a place in the final.

According to Croatian outlet 24Sata, Juranovic missed training on Thursday but is likely to return to the training pitch with his teammates on Friday. Although, the Croatian manager Zlatko Dalic is believed to be against risking players that are carrying knocks as a courtesy to their clubs. Along with this, the manager will likely look to spread the game time amongst his squad so that players are able to play at the World Cup.

Juranovic’s Celtic future remains in doubt as the player is linked with moves to England, Spain and Italy. Celtic are believed to be looking for £17m to sell the player, a figure that seems realistic given his performances at the World Cup and for Celtic in Europe.

Celtic have already signed Ally Johnston to compete with Tony Ralston, should Juranovic move on. Given that he has three and a half years remaining on his deal and interest remains high, you would expect the player to leave this January.
