Celtic’s lovely Tribute to David Potter on the big screens at Celtic Park

Celtic Football Club paid their respects to Celtic Historian David Potter who sadly passed away last weekend.

On a day that David would have loved, Celtic unfurling yet another title winning flag and a number of new players making their debut as Celtic and Ross County served up an entertaining match with Celtic taking the three points in a 4-2 win, Celtic’s tribute was very much appreciated by everyone who knew David.

Here’s the video of the tribute and as it’s tricky to make out what is being said, we also provide the text of what was said in the tribute.

“The entire Celtic family was saddened this week to hear of the passing of legendary Celtic historian and author, David Potter.

“David penned over 30 books relating to the history of Celtic Football Club, and another 40 books covering a wide variety of sporting, social and political history.

“He was a popular man and a highly respected author whose legacy will live on through his vast bibliography. By covering so much of the Celtic story through his own work, David has undoubtedly ensured his own place in the history of this football club, and everyone here at the Club would like to extend our condolences to David’s friends and family at this difficult time,” Celtic Football Club.

Our appreciation goes to Matthew Campbell and of course Matt Corr of Celtic Tours fame for sorting this lovely and well deserved tribute to Celtic legend David Potter, very much of this parish.
