Celtic’s near perfect three trophy year deserves to be recognised

The Scottish media is too busy pining over Ibrox woes to recognise Celtic’s incredible achievements…

If Celtic avoid defeat tomorrow at Celtic Park against St Johnstone we will have gone through an entire calendar year unbeaten at Celtic Park in all competitions and losing only two competitive matches in 2024.

Just two defeats in 2024 with one game to go

The two defeats came in that controversial match at Tynecastle last March then in Dortmund in the Champions League against last season’s finalists.

These are remarkable achievements that should be loudly applauded, not that you would hear about it through the Scottish mainstream media. The hacks are currently too busy pining over the downfall of theRangers that they have failed to give Celtic any true recognition.

Losing just two games in an entire calendar year is a magnificent achievement and one that should be fully recognised. And whether it was Livingston or Leipzig or even theRangers, no visiting side tasted victory at Celtic Park in 2024 with St Johnstone the last to try tomorrow.

There was a bit of adjustment for the players when Brendan Rodgers took over from Ange Postecoglou due to the difference in football philosophy, and despite a bit of a sticky start the players have bought into the Irishman’s style and won all three trophies this calendar year.

Celtic playing superb football

We’ve done so by playing some superb football and with the added bonus of becoming competitive on the biggest stage of all in the Champions League. Even in our tour of the United States in the summer Celtic won all three matches including brilliant wins over Chelsea and Manchester City.

Deserves to be recognised

That deserves to be recognised should Celtic avoid defeat tomorrow. but we know that it will be downplayed for fear of upsetting their core audience. Few if any will want to say ‘well done Bhoys on these fantastic achievements.
