Tobi Oluwayemi is emerging as a target for clubs from England, with teams from mainland Europe also monitoring his situation ahead of his deal expiring in the summer…

The 22-year-old is currently gaining regular first-team football during a loan spell with Kilmarnock, having arrived at Rugby Park on a short-loan agreement in October.
Since then, he has retained the starting role and impressed with a run of consistent performances under Stuart Kettlewell and now interim Killie manager Kris Doolan.
With his contract at Celtic set to expire at the end of the season, speculation around his future has intensified in recent days. According to Scottish Sun, clubs from England and Europe are weighing up potential approaches.

Oluwayemi joined the Hoops from Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 but is still awaiting his competitive debut for the first team. However, Oluwayemi did build valuable experience last season while on loan at Dunfermline Athletic, making 36 appearances under Celtic icon Neil Lennon.

At Celtic, opportunities have been limited, with Kasper Schmeichel no.1 in goal since the Dane arrived at the club in the summer of 2024. However, Schmeichel’s deal also runs out in the summer. Behind him, Viljami Sinisalo has yet to feature in the league this season, while Ross Doohan remains third in the pecking order.
Celtic have been linked with a January move for Manchester City no.3 Stefan Ortega, but Besiktas are also reportedly monitoring the 33 year-old’s situation. With Schmeichel out of contract and Oluwayemi set to depart, a goalkeeper could become a priority for Wilfried Nancy and the recruitment team.

On the other hand, Sinisalo has impressed when he has played, but Brendan Rodgers, Martin O’Neill and now Nancy feel Schmeichel still remains the best goalkeeper at the club. Whether that changes in the longer-term remains to be seen, but Celtic’s goalkeeping situation does look precarious.
