Champions League Result: Malmo 1 Vidi 1

IT’S advantage to the Hungarian side Vidi after they fought back from a goal down to grab a late equaliser in Sweden this evening.

Anders Christiansen gave the Malmo the lead early in the second half but the Swedish Champions could not see out the match and Loic Nego grabbed an equaliser for Vidi, the new name of the side previously known as Videoton.

The return match in Hungary will take place in Hungary next Tuesday and the eventual winners will play either Celtic tor AEK Athens in the Fourth Round play off for the (so called) Champions League.

To reach the Group Stages in 2018 Celtic need to defeat Champions from 4 European countries, just as we did in 1966/67 season and that number of games was enough to get us to Lisbon for the Final of the European Cup.

In 2018 UEFA have reserved 21 of the 26 places in the Champions League for the big clubs from just 6 countries – England, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Russia.
