Chris Sutton – “Celtic jerseys are not for second best, they don’t shrink to fit inferior players”

LISTEN to former Celtic star Chris Sutton give his forthright views on Dedryck Boyata after yesterday’s eventful day for the Belgium defender at Celtic Park.

The Green Brigade pre-match banner has divided the support as did the decision by some supporters to boo the want away Celtic defender yesterday.

The boos were drowned out by applause as a large majority of the support – reduced in size yesterday due to the enforced move from a Saturday to Sunday to accommodate the drop into the Europa League Play-offs (ironically had Boyata played in Athens this game could have happened on the Saturday).

There were probably around 5-10k empty seats and this will be a feature of the Sunday games this season due to the Europa League, assuming we make it through on Thursday night!

Anyway Chris Sutton is in no mood too forgive and forget the actions of Dedryck Boyata and his agent over the past few weeks, even if he did score the winner yesterday!

And the internet was awash with rumours last night that Boyata is about to sack his agent and wants to sign a new deal at Celtic! Others have suggested that he will ‘do a Stuart Armstrong’ and sign a new one year contract extension, play this season, then be sold to a Premier League club next summer.

It looks like being an interesting week!
