Chris Sutton gives damning Celtic verdict after Champions League exit

CHRIS SUTTON has given his own damning verdict after Celtic’s Champions League exit at the hands of Hungarian Champions Ferencvaros. The English pundit doesn’t pull any punches when giving his reasons for the club’s failure to make the group stages for the third season in a row.

Sutton, who spent six years in Glasgow, has always been a vocal supporter of the club but is quick to call out the inadequacies and shortcomings emanating from Celtic Park. Last night highlighted a number of them and Sutton summed it up as well as most supporters probably could.

Celtic have once again stalled in their recruitment drive. Albian Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas and Moi Elyounoussi have all signed but it took a while yet Celtic look short in a few positions. The manger has to hold his hands up, it took 78 minutes before a striker came onto the park. Even when we chased an equaliser, Patryk Klimala was sat on the bench whilst Greg Taylor and defensive midfielder Scott Brown stayed on the pitch.

Lennon and the club’s hierarchy need to take responsibility and unless they want to forfeit the coveted tilt at 10IAR they need to invest and take stock about the regression that has occurred at the club in recent seasons.
