Club President tries to shut down Celtic links by claiming prolific star doesn’t want to play in Scotland

Whenever someone closely connected to a possible transfer starts to speak out in public, it’s important to try and learn what they have to gain from these comments.

Celtic’s centre forward position looks secure for next season after Eddy dropped a big hint that he’s going nowhere, but that hasn’t stopped them being linked with a few forwards in recent weeks.

One of those is Israeli front man Shon Weismann who plays in Austria for Wolfsberger, and The Daily Record have given an update of sorts over him.

They feature some quotes from the club president, and he’s doing his best to shut down these Celtic rumours:

“Of course there have been plenty of interest in Shon. But all these have come from clubs in countries that Shon isn’t interested in going.”

“His goal is clearly to play in England or Germany – that’s where he wants to go. And staying at Wolfsberger isn’t entirely out of the question too. Everything is possible with him.”

It’s incredible that he goes from definitively ruling out almost every country in earth before claiming anything is possible, but who knows how true these comments are?

The main likelihood is that he knows this is his best chance to cash in on a prized asset, so of course he’s going to try and force him to move to a league where the teams will pay the bigger fees.

It’s also possible that he knows their best chance of making money is securing a large sell on clause when he does go, and the fee will probably be bigger if he moves from a mid table Premier League club rather than a team like Celtic.

Ultimately the player will need to decide what’s best for his career, but his President has made it clear that he only wants to deal with certain clubs at this point.
