Confirmed: McGregor starts for Scotland

CALLUM MCGREGOR has been named in Steve Clarke’s starting XI for Scotland in today’s EURO 2021 play-off semi-final. The omnipresent Celtic midfielder starts as Clarke’s side look to make it to the final, where they will face either Serbia or Norway.

The Celtic midfielder has been enjoying a purple patch with the Scottish Champions and will be hoping to continue that on the International stage.

Teammate Greg Taylor is on the bench and ex-Celtic goalie David Marshall starts in the nets. The full team is:

Marshall; O’Donnell, Cooper, McTominay, Gallacher, Robertson;
McGregor, McGinn, Jack; Dykes, McBurnie.

Scotland were dealt a blow yesterday when ex-Celtic duo Stuart Armstrong and Kieran Tierney were ruled out alongside Ryan Christie after Armstrong tested positive. Despite Tierney and Christie maintaining social distancing and observing team protocols, NHS track and trace decided to order the players to self-isolate for fourteen days.

Celtic will be hoping that no injuries hit either McGregor or the Israeli duo that are likely to play.
