Any club or manager can simply throw money around in the transfer market in order to assemble a good squad, but that only takes so much knowledge and skill
The best clubs and managers are able to make stars out of players who have been written off and discarded elsewhere, but every single move of that nature is a risk.
Jordan Ibe has been linked with a move to Celtic for a while now, with The Sun touting him for a free transfer a few weeks ago.
He looks like the kind of player who could thrive at Celtic Park if he commits himself, he’s got pace and power, he’s skillful and he can score goals, so having him cutting inside from that left hand side could be perfect.
The problem is there’s a reason that Bournemouth are letting him go for free – he’s barely played and his attitude is a concern, so he could end up being an expensive flop if that continues.
The Twitter account of Goal.com compared some headlines earlier, and it shows just how far he’s fallen in the past few years:
Five years later and Jordon Ibe is set to leave Bournemouth on a free transfer 🆓
He cost Bournemouth £16 million in 2016.

He’s gone from being compared to one of the best players in the world and a big money transfer to leaving Bournemouth on a free transfer,
It will be fascinating to see if Celtic decide to take a risk and sign him – if they can agree a deal that offers him a reasonable wage and a get out for the club if it all goes wrong, then it could prove to be a masterstroke.
