Contrasting headlines show how far Celtic target Jordan Ibe has fallen since his £16m transfer

The best clubs and managers are able to make stars out of players who have been written off and discarded elsewhere, but every single move of that nature is a risk.

Jordan Ibe has been linked with a move to Celtic for a while now, with The Sun touting him for a free transfer a few weeks ago.

He looks like the kind of player who could thrive at Celtic Park if he commits himself, he’s got pace and power, he’s skillful and he can score goals, so having him cutting inside from that left hand side could be perfect.

The problem is there’s a reason that Bournemouth are letting him go for free – he’s barely played and his attitude is a concern, so he could end up being an expensive flop if that continues.

The Twitter account of Goal.com compared some headlines earlier, and it shows just how far he’s fallen in the past few years:

It will be fascinating to see if Celtic decide to take a risk and sign him – if they can agree a deal that offers him a reasonable wage and a get out for the club if it all goes wrong, then it could prove to be a masterstroke.
