It’s been reported earlier today on The Celtic Star that Brendan Rodgers is ready to wield the axe and rid the club of the deadwood that’s clogging up the squad.
The squad number is way too high at the moment and Brendan is absolutely correct in wanting to shave the numbers. Players such as Liam Shaw, Osaze Urhoghide, Ismaila Soro, Albian Ajeti and Yousuke Ideguchi clearly have no future at the club and it’s in everyone’s interests that they are moved on.
Their combined salary most likely drains around close to half a million quid a year, money that could be put to better use and is the equivalent to a year’s salary for a quality player. Moving them on is easier said than done though and at the moment there doesn’t seem to be any concrete interest in either of them.
Could they be cut loose from their contracts just like Vasilis Barkas? We may be taking a loss regarding recouping any monies, but it will be subsidised by making room in the budget for any possible incomings.

Try a couple million mhate ajeti was on 18 or 20 grand ! Remember he was going sign at first! God wish he hadn’t but your way off unfortunately is way higher also added Bain and McCarthy to this and few more sad McCarthy not worked but he need moved on to he be taking at least a million a year out of our club and hass gave us nothing ! As Brendan has said he’ll be pretty much following the model for signings already in place.ie. spend £2m or so and hope they turn a big profit. How this fits in with doing well in Europe I don’t know.
