Daizen dismisses Celtic rhetoric after goal

Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda spoke out on social media after he netted his first goal of the season. The Japanese forward scored with a wonderful header from a Marcelo Saracchi cross…

After the goal, Maeda pointed at the Celtic badge emphatically as he celebrated with the Celtic supporters behind the goal.

There has been a rhetoric that Maeda has downed tools since a move away from the club was not forthcoming. However, in a Twitter post on Sunday evening, Maeda dismissed this with a caption “For the team”, along with images of his celebration.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Maeda had made his intention to find a new challenge clear earlier this year but that was not possible due to Celtic’s inactivity in the window. The manager confirmed that he would require to speak with Maeda to get him back to the heights of last season.

Hopefully the club can actively look to replace Maeda and allow the player to experience a new league in due course. However, the focus must be maximising the output from Daizen until then. It’s clear from the post that he’s focused on bringing success to the club.
