“Debut in Scottish Cup and first goal for Celtic,” Rocco Vata

Hopefully after his appearance and goal, Rocco can be persuaded to stay and sign a deal that Celtic re now looking at offering…

Speculation still surrounds the future of Rocco Vata. The youngster is being courted by several Italian sides and it’s also been speculated that Celtic haven’t gave up hope on him and are trying to persuade him to stay put by offering him a new contract.

Yesterday Rocco put all that to one side as he was named on the bench for the Scottish cup tie against Buckie Thistle. He certainly did himself no harm at all as he made an appearance as a second half substitute alongside fellow youth player Daniel Kelly. Indeed young Rocco scored the fifth and final goal, his first ever at first team level in a Celtic shirt as he made a debut appearance for the club in the Scottish Cup.

Rocco understandably looked delighted as he celebrated with his Celtic teammates, it must have been a proud moment for the young man and his family. That begs the question, will it be his first and last goal in a Celtic shirt? No one knows as his future is of course still to be determined, with all this speculation still going on.

But hopefully after his appearance and goal yesterday, young Rocco can be persuaded his future lies at Celtic. Let’s hope so, it would be much welcome indeed.

“Debut in Scottish Cup and first goal for Celtic,” was Rocco Vata’s brief summary of yesterday’s events posted on his Instagram account. Hopefully his next update is him celebrating signing a new deal to remain at the club.

Fingers crossed for you, Rocco, fingers crossed.
