Defiant Alistair Johnston breaks Celtic silence after injury setback

Celtic defender Alistair Johnston has issued a defiant message after going under the knife for his hamstring injury. The right back suffered a recurrence of a hamstring strain in the win over Strum Graz. It had been hoped he was on the comeback trail until a further scan revealed that there had been a tear and he required surgery.

Now, after undergoing the surgery, Johnston broke his silence after the injury setback and vowed to be back later this season in the hunt for the title.

Johnston was injured in the first leg of the UCL Playoff against Kairat. The Canadian Internationalist was forced off in the first half and his absence down the right side of the backline has been noticeable.

Celtic have a number of injury concerns at present. Kelechi Iheanacho was subbed off shortly before AJ in the Europa League win, limiting the already stricken frontline. Marcelo Saracchi has recently suffered a hamstring injury and he joins an already strained injury list. Cameron Carter-Vickers (achilles), Jota (knee), Callum Osmand (hamstring) and Iheanacho (hamstring) are currently sidelined with the latter expected to be back sooner than his teammates.
