Delighted Forrest signs 4 year contract extension

JAMES FORREST today signed a new contract at Celtic that will keep him at the Scottish Champions until the summer of 2022. He joins Leigh Griffiths in committing his long term future to the club and skipper Scott Brown will be next up to sign up for the 10IAR bid!

Twenty seven year old Forrest joined Celtic as a nine year old so has now been involved with the club for 2/3 of his entire life! And now he will be into his 30s and will still be a Celtic star! Already he has made 307 appearances for the club and has scored 58 goals.

James is likely to end his career as one of the most decorated Celtic stars of all time. So far he has won seven league titles, four Scottish Cups and three League Cups with the promise of many more to follow!

Forrest spoke to the official website today and expressed his delight at signing
Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, the Hoops winger described his delight at having signed his new four-year contract.

“From the first moment that I knew Celtic wanted to extend my deal, I knew this was what I wanted to do and there’s no other place for me.

“It’s unbelievable when you think about how long I’ve been here. Coming through the Youth Academy, all I wanted to do was make my debut in the first-team, and I was able to do that, but I could never think then that I’d go on to play the number of games that I have.

“I’m 27 now and I want to keep working hard, play as many games as I can and contribute as much as I can to this club. I’ve been here since I’ve been a wee boy. It’s been my full life and I just want to stay here for as long as I can.

“You know how big Celtic is as a club, all over the world, and every year we’re competing for trophies, every game you play is a high-pressure game, and as a player, you’re always trying to better yourself and keep working hard, and I’m delighted to be here for the next few years.”
