Departing Schiphol, Destination Paradise, Rookie Keeper

Celtic’s Europa League opponents have left Amsterdam and are currently en route to Glasgow for tomorrow evening’s first leg the play-off round at Celtic Park. And the AZ Alkmaar squad has been boosted by the signing of a new goalkeeper who looks set to make his debut for the club at Paradise.

AZ Alkmaar have brought in Danish goalkeeper Peter Vindahl from Nordsjaelland and have registered him in time to play against Celtic. He’s a straight replacement for Marco Bizot who left this summer too join French Ligue 1 side Brest. Vindahl cost around €1.8m and looks likely to start ahead of their back-up keepers Hobie Verhulst and Beau Reus.

Vindahl is just 23 years old and has only made 55 appearances at senior level. He’s also had 4 caps for Demnark’s Under 21s. The noise at Celtic Park might be an entirely new experience for the young keeper. Something that might suit Celtic, especially if we make enough NOISE…

The Dutch side will be without their Swedish winger Jesper Karlsson, who is suspended after his sending off in their final group stage match last season against Croatian side Rijeka. Their want away skipper Teun Koopmeiners, who was dropped at the weekend, is in the squad but it is unclear whether he’ll get the nod to play at Paradise.
