Desperate new Rosenborg boss pleads with players ahead of Celtic showdown

DESPERATE Rosenborg manager Rini Coolen – who replaced respected former boss Kare Ingebrigtsen on Thursday – is meeting the Rosenborg players today to try to win them round to his controversial appointment ahead of the match against Celtic in Glasgow’s East End on Wednesday evening.

Rini Coolen seems completely unsuited to the job and the manner of the dismissal of the popular Ingebrigtsen has upset the squad who have been in no mood to accept the change.

Coolen feels he must try to bring the club back together.

“I think it’s smart to start with a chat before training. But then we have to freshen up and be aware of what’s
coming this week.

“It’s not about myself or the new coaches. The players have a problem with changing the old coach – and they’re entitled to say so.

“But now the situation is as it is and I’m 100 per cent sure they will accept the situation from Sunday onwards.

“It’s football. We live in a free country where people can say what they think.

“The players stood up for their coach, but my situation is different. Now we have to work together – and we’ll do that.

“They must be ready for the next match against Celtic and they will be.

“I was asked to take over and I said yes because I want to help the club and the players. We have to adapt now.

“I didn’t expect this
situation – but now I’m
looking forward.

“We will analyse the opponents and find
weaknesses that we can exploit with Celtic.

“We also have to stay close to Rosenborg’s playing style that has already delivered good results.”
