Transfer Specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Celtic will sign Joe Hart from Tottenham Hotspur. The 34-year-old English goalkeeper made just ten appearances last season for Spurs in cup competitions under Jose Mourinho but has not made a league appearance since December 2018.
Romano says that Hart will pick up a wage of just £15k, around £13k less than he was earning at Spurs. However, given that Celtic are offering a three-year deal, it looks as if a move will suit all parties.
Done deal and here-we-go. Joe Hart joins Celtic on a permanent deal from Tottenham, £15k per week as salary. Medical and official announcement this week. ⚪️🟢 #Celtic #THFC
Confirmed as advanced one week ago… and Celtic are still working on Buta as new fullback option 👇🏻 https://t.co/G955DOOmy4

Hart, who was a mainstay for Manchester City until Pep Guardiola’s arrival in 2016, spent time on loan at Torino and West Ham before joining Burnley. Celtic need an experienced voice in our backline and quality to match, the signing of the 75-capped England goalkeeper certainly provides that and despite concerns but sections of the support, the player could prove to be an excellent acquisition by the club.
The fee of £1m has been quoted but this may be split between the player and Spurs as Celtic look to entice the goalkeeper to Glasgow.
Ange Postecoglou still wants to add another midfielder, a central defender, a right-back and a winger to his ranks – with a potential striker being added to that list if Odsonne Edouard moves on. Romano says that a deal is still being pursued by Celtic for Aurelio Buta of Royal Antwerp in terms of the right-back positon but Liam Scales (CB – Shamrock Rovers) and James McCarthy have been suggested as being close to signing.
