CELTIC have confirmed that Ben Summers has signed a professional contract with the Scottish Champions following his 16th birthday. The club confirmed that the highly rated attacking midfielder had agreed a deal on the Official Website.
Summers signs a three year deal as he hopes to progress from Academy player to fully fledged first team regular, like James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Mikey Johnston.
Elsewhere, Karamoko Dembele has been named on the coveted Golden Boy long list. The prestigious award has previously been won by promising youngster such as Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi; however, the 17-year-old Celtic winger has also made the cut.
Italian site Tuttosport has compiled the list and it is testament to the talent within the Celtic Academy that Dembele has earned a place on the list.
Dembele made his debut at just 16 in a second half appearance against Hearts back in May 2019. Neil Lennon rewarded the youngster with two more appearances last season, in the away defeat to Cluj and a substitute appearance in the win over Ross County. Dembele is certainly one to watch for the future with his performances in the Development team resulting in supporters often wondering how long it will be before he becomes a regular feature in the first team.
