Dundee offer Griffiths a deal after Celtic release striker

Leigh Griffiths has been offered a deal by Dundee FC as his deal expires with Celtic. The striker was released by Celtic despite having months remaining on his deal meaning if he doesn’t sign new terms with a new club, he’ll be a free agent tomorrow.

However, with the Dundee Derby tomorrow night, James McPake has attempted to tie him down for 18 months. As reported by The Courier, the player is now weighing up whether to remain at Dens Park.

The 31-year-old scored 123 goals for Celtic in 261 appearances but off-field issues plagued the striker’s time in Glasgow. Although, he will depart with a place in Celtic’s all time scoring charts as well as an excellent haul of winners medals. Ange Postecoglou rewarded him, perhaps unwisely, with a one year deal but the club decided to exercise an option to end his contract prematurely.

You would imagine that the player has his agents working on other options, in case something opens up. McPake has always spoken highly of Griffiths but the move so far hasn’t worked out well. The striker is in need of a run of form as he enters the next chapter of his career.
