Dundee United have emerged as candidates to sign Declan Gallagher from Motherwell, despite reports linking the 29-year-old with a move to Celtic. Earlier this month, Nicky Hammond was reported to be watching Gallagher playing for Motherwell but it looks as if Celtic will be rivalled to the signature of the central defender.
According to Glasgow Live, Micky Mellon wants to make the Scotland Internationalist one of the Tannadice side’s top earners by committing to a pre-contract agreement before he triggers a new deal with The ‘Well by playing three games.
Gallagher, 29, started his career at Celtic before moving to Clyde then Dundee before Livi. An off-field incident probably hampered any hopes of Gallagher reaching the top of the game but through hard work, he has moved onto become an integral part of the Scotland National Team under Steve Clarke.
Celtic are in need of a new central defender with Christopher Jullien ruled out for at least four months with a knee injury and had been linked heavily with Benkovic. However, the Croatian defender made the switch to Belgium – along with another Celtic target, Mark McKenzie .
