Edouard Allegedly Not Among Top Earners At Celtic

According to the Football Insider, a Celtic exclusive has revealed that Odsonne Edouard is not among the top three earners at Celtic Park.

The highest paid players are believed to be Scott Brown, Christopher Jullien and Callum McGregor, who recently signed a bumper five year deal.

French Eddy has been in splendid form this season, finding the net on 27 occasions and assisting on 19. His current contract runs until the summer of 2022, but there is massive interest in him, which naturally leads the Hoops to want to renegotiate, not only to secure his services for ten in a row, but also to protect the selling value of the player.

Speaking to the Football Insider, ex-Rangers man, Alan Hutton discussed the financial situation (no laughing at the back). “It does surprise me. I had a fair idea who the top earners were and I would definitely put him in that category,” Hutton said.

He went on to comment: “It’s a bit of a strange one. Maybe he’s looking at it now and thinking that he wants to be on par with the likes of McGregor, Brown and all these kind of guys and I totally get that.

For me he’s their main player so why wouldn’t he be? Maybe that’s why he’s holding off in talks, maybe he’s looking to his future and he wants to be financially sorted for what he believes he brings to the table.

It’s a bit of a shock but I’m sure if he keeps improving with his performances and he keeps going the way he’s going, it’s a matter of time before that happens.”
