CELTIC manager Brendan Rodgers’ latest signing target is Norwegian defender Omar Elabdellaoui, according to reports coming out of Dubai.

And it looks like it will take a bid of around £4million to get the right back from Olympiakos.

Elabdellaoui, who has won 34 caps for Norway, is being lined up as a long term solution at right back, Mikael Lustig has made that spot his own for years but the veteran Swede is now in the final year of his contract. Celtic do have the option to extend for one additional year and it is believed that the player – who performed so well at the World Cup for Sweden last summer – is likely to stay on for one more year.

Anthony Ralston made a decent impression when called upon in December after a period out of contention following a loan spell at Dundee United. His progress has been hampered by injuries over the past few seasons.

Meanwhile reports that Celtic have been priced out of market for Timothy Castagne is inaccurate. After Celtic’s initial interest emerged a tabloid ran a story claiming that his club in Italy were looking for a fee of around £10million. No confirmation ever came from Atalanta on this figure and Castagne has subsequently revealed that the transfer price would be around £6million.

However Castagne has indicated that a move to one of the bigger leagues – in Germany or England – would be his personal preference.

So attention seems to have turned to Kristoffer Ajer’s international team-mate Elabdellaoui. The 27 year old is a product of the Manchester City youth set-up but he failed to make the break-though at the Etihad.
