Ex-Celt Camara sets French Connection 10-in-a-row challenge

Former Celtic player Mo Camara has set down a challenge to French duo Odsonne Edouard and Olivier Ntcham to remain under Neil Lennon and improve before they make the next step in their career whilst also helping the club win 10-in-a-row. Speaking to the Glasgow Times, the Ghanian reckons that Celtic Park is the best place to improve their talents before moving on as they compete for trophies and play in Europe.

Camara played for Celtic for one year between 2005 and 2006 but never really took to life in Glasgow. Now, Camara works as a scout for Manchester United and recognises the talents of the French pair to play in the Premier League but believes that they should stay and help Celtic to a 10th title in a row.

Ntcham Scores vs Lazio

“I think, at the moment, Edouard and Ntcham are still in the right place to improve their game. Edouard for the past few years now has scored a lot of goals for Celtic and he’s been on top in the last couple of years compared to Ntcham. But I think sometimes players go to the Premier League too soon. At Celtic they play in Europe, they compete for trophies.

“It’s better to have three or four seasons at Celtic and after that there’s a good possibility they can play in a top four or five club in the Premier League. Neither player would want to go to the Premier League to sit on the bench at a team in the top ten. Celtic play Europa League or Champions League every season and they have Neil Lennon there who is a good lad and a good manager.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and sometimes players rush to get there. I think, if I was someone to give them advice or a member of their family I would tell them to stay one more year at Celtic after this season.”

Odsonne Edouard scores at Ibrox last September

Camara recognises that another season playing for Celtic is exactly what the pair need before moving to a top club in England. That would coincide, should Celtic rightfully win our 9th title in a row this season, with the campaign to win 10-in-a-row. Celtic would also be able to command a better price for their stars next season as this season, the market has fallen away as a result of coronavirus.

“It would be good for all parties for the players to stay one more year. If Edouard does stay for one more season I think it would be good for him because I can see him going into a top five club in England. An Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United. If he scores five or six goals every season in the Champions League or Europa League, it would be great for him, Celtic and any interested clubs.”
