Ex-Celt Training with Birmingham to Earn Deal

Former Celtic midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has been training with English Championship side Birmingham City with a view to earning a deal with the Blues. Mulumbu was a bizarre signing for the Scottish Champions on deadline day in 2018 as Brendan Rodgers battled with Peter Lawwell over the club’s transfer strategy.

Mulumbu, 33, was released from his contract when Neil Lennon was appointed on a permanent basis in May. Now the Congolese midfielder, who spent the second half of last season with Kilmarnock on loan, has been attempting to get himself another club with Birmingham.

Despite having played for their West Midlands rivals, West Brom, Mulumbu completed 90 minutes for Birmingham City’s U23s as he looks to earn himself a deal with Pep Clotet’s team.

Mulumbu was at his best with Steve Clarke’s Killie and never had the chance to showcase his talents at Celtic, after all he had Scott Brown ahead of him.

Best of luck to Mulumbu as he attempts to get back into the game.
