Ex-Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon eyed by English clubs

Former Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon could be on the move again with a host of English clubs ready to swoop should he fail to agree on renewed terms at Tynecastle. The goalie has been in inspired form for Hearts since arriving on a free transfer from Celtic in 2020. According to Edinburgh Evening News, Gordon is wanted by some Championship clubs from England should he fail to agree a new deal with the Jambos.

His departure from Neil Lennon’s side came as a major blow with Fraser Forster also deciding against remaining at the club. This resulted in Vasilis Barkas being signed for £5m, who has now been replaced by ex-England Internationalist Joe Hart.

Gordon spent six years at Celtic but following the expiry of his deal, no agreement was reached leaving the Invincible ‘keeper free to join any club. Hearts swooped to sign their former £9m export, who played just six games for Celtic from the beginning of 2019 up until his departure in the summer of 2020. This move has paid dividends for Gordon, who is now the Jambos captain as well as regaining his place as Scotland’s No.1.

Admittedly, Gordon had the ability to make some top saves but his Celtic career appeared to have stalled and in order to gain first-team football, he made the switch to Gorgie since he wasn’t willing to risk being second choice at Celtic.
