Ex-Celtic loanee gets surprise Premier League move to Sheffield United

OLIVER BURKE has joined Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee after a deal was done by West Bromwich Albion to swap Callum Robinson for the former Celtic loanee. Burke was linked with a return to Celtic by Turkish media but he has landed a surprise move to Chris Wilder’s Blades.

The Scotland Internationalist spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Celtic. Burke possessed some good qualities such as pace, power and tenacity but managed a few sitters during his stint – Rangers, Aberdeen and Livi stick out.

The ex-£15m man showed some flashes of what he could do playing some good football at Celtic but when Rodgers left, Neil Lennon didn’t seem to fancy the Scotland Internationalist. During his time in Glasgow, Burke scored four goals in nineteen appearances as Celtic completed the Treble Treble.

Burke may well suit the compact, aggressive style adopted by Wilder’s Sheffield United. The move to Yorkshire will be handy for Burke, who’s family are based in Nottingham – where he broke through.

Good luck to Burke, someone who gave his all during his time at the club and will be hoping to really make the most of the potential that saw RB Leipzig and WBA spend £28m collectively in transfer fees on him.
