Ex-Celtic starlet heads to Australia in hunt of new club

LEO MAZIS was tipped as Celtic’s next Tom Rogic when the talented youngster joined the Scottish Champions under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers. The 20-year-old Australian-Italian was allowed to leave the Scottish Champions following two seasons in Glasgow to trial for the Italian outfit, U.S. Triestina Calcio 1918.

Following the conclusion of the trial period, Mazis has signed a contract until June 2021 with a two years extension option in his deal. The Canberra born youngster has exited the Italian side after just ten months.

Mazis has now joined Western Sydney on trial as he hopes to impress in order to earn a long term deal. The World Game are reporting that following his departure from Italy, he has decided to head back to Australia to play football.

Mazis was hotly tipped as the next best thing coming out of Australia when he signed in 2018 but he has failed to live up to expectations and Celtic allowed him to leave in February of this year.

Mazis is another of Rodgers’ signings that have been moved on since the Irishman left eighteen months ago to Leicester with the ex manager having a patchy record when it came to player acquisitions.
