Ex-Celtic talisman Dembele celebrates Spanish title triumph

He was famed for single-handedly winning trophies in the famous green and white in his Glasgow playing days, and he’s done it again abroad; Moussa Dembele has won La Liga under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Dembele left Celtic three years ago to join Lyon in a move worth around £20m, after winning every domestic trophy possible in his time at Celtic Park. Despite only being at Paradise for two seasons, Moussa scored 26 league goals in 55 league games, 16 goals in 16 games in the Scottish Cups and 8 goals in 24 European games – not a bad return. Cementing his name in Celtic folklore forever, Celtic made a 4000% return on their investment.

The Parisian moved to the Spanish capital on a loan-to-buy offer, which the newly-crowned Spanish champions can activate for £32m – a deal which would see Celtic receive £6m should he make the switch. He hasn’t quite cracked on as much as he would’ve liked in Spain; Dembele hasn’t yet scored for Los Colchoneros, however due to being behind the world-class Luis Suarez and prodigy Joao Felix in the pecking order, that is quite understandable.

Still, Moussa can walk with his head held high if he is to leave the Wanda Metropolitano without having scored for Atletico -, with another major trophy to his name, it is just another honour in the already formidable trophy cabinet the Frenchman possesses.
