Experienced referee given Celtic’s clash with Kilmarnock

Celtic face Kilmarnock tomorrow afternoon at Rugby Park as Brendan Rodgers’ side look to back up their impressive week with a win at Rugby Park. Last Saturday, Celtic beat Aberdeen at Hampden to secure their place in the League Cup Final. The 6-0 thrashing of Aberdeen was followed up with a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Celtic will travel to Ayrshire to face Derek McInnes’ Killie on the typically difficult Rugby Park surface. The SFA have confirmed the appointment of referee Nick Walsh for the clash.

Walsh will be assisted by David McGeachie and Jonathan Bell.

Meanwhile at Clydesdale House, Don Robertson is on VAR duties with Andrew McWilliam assisting.

Walsh has taken charge of two Celtic games this season – the 2-0 win over Hibs at Easter Rd and the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen in October. The elite referee will likely be the whistleblower for the League Cup Final in December.

Celtic secured the title at Rugby Park last season after a sensational display, winning 5-0. The manager will be hoping his side can replicate the fast start from mid May as first half goals from Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda James Forrest setting the Champions up.
