He should have had a word with the Scottish hacks and they’d have put him right. However Ronan Murphy, the Head of Social and Football Journalist for Transfers.com and Bundesliga and European Football Pundit for Sony Sports Network, no doubt completely unaware of the greatest ever myth that is played out in the Scottish mainstream media’s sports pages ever single day, walked into a storm of hatred and insults from the supporters of the ‘New Rangers’ as Dave King described them after posting a message on the dates that both RB Leipzig and theRangers were founded.
Here’s the rather surprised journalist reflecting on the personal abuse directed at him since he made his initial social media post.
Some lovely DMs from Rangers fans this morning.
All for discussing the year a football team was founded.
Imagine getting this worked up over four numbers. pic.twitter.com/Cd2DKxqoIw

Here’s how it all started…
Suppose it’s only right that the team with more tradition who have been in existence longer won the first leg.

Amid all the hatred and personal abuse directed at Murphy this one stood out as something rather different. An explanation as to how having had their CVA rejected by their creditors in June 2012 Rangers FC (in administration from which it never emerged) was placed into liquidation and a bundle of assets sold by Duff & Phelps to Charles Green who used an off the shelf company to form a new football club which began life in the fourth tier of Scottish football in late July 2012, it nevertheless remained the same club and the club featured on the gates at Ibrox – Rangers Football Club Ltd – was the same club just a different holding company…
Aye and died, riddled with debt, in 2012. pic.twitter.com/cq16x7pZ6C

Which means that they had used the name of the Holding Company and not the club on the gates – rather strange since the fact that they actually had a holding company was Scottish football’s best kept secret, one never mentioned until after around £100m in unpaid bills forced them into liquidation.
Anyway here’s the explanation which had he bothered to post this ten years ago would have saved us all the bother of reminding them at every possible opportunity that we know their club died…
Ronan Murphy (the journalist): “Suppose it’s only right that the team with more tradition who have been in existence longer won the first leg.”
Paul (theRangers fan): “Aye I forgot clubs are founded based on financial irrelevences (sic) and not on actual reality. Clubs are more than entities if the Vatican goes bust is Catholicism then founded when they re-emerge solvent?”
Johnny (Celtic fan): “Good solid argument, you’ve read all the facts, done your homework & came up with this. The first man on twitter to give this reasoning as to why rangers & the rangers must be the same club, genius, absolute genius, you are worth your weight in gold.”

Even Dave knows you are right…never let them forget they stood back and watched their club die. pic.twitter.com/4xrHCzOPzr

The last word…
Don’t worry, once it’s finally gone, I’ll just rename it and pretend it’s the same as before.

Or maybe not…
There's now an article about my tweet praising Leipzig and Rangers for their fairytale success in Europe.
I'm very confused why there's so much abuse. I just wanted to praise two new clubs for reaching the #UEL semi finals. https://t.co/9YzK5ic5sk
