Fabrizio Romano provides Matt O’Riley update

Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Matt O’Riley’s future as the ex-Celtic midfielder looks set to leave Brighton. Celtic sold the Danish Internationalist last summer for a deal in excess of £26m.

However, an injury on debut saw O’Riley’s opportunity to shine on the English coast limited. Roma, Everton and Juventus have all been linked with an interest in the talented midfielder. Now, Romano states that Serie A side Juve are prioritising O’Riley if a deal can be done to offload Douglas Luiz.

Celtic will be interested in O’Riley’s movement this summer given that the club will retain a sell on option. It remains to be seen what conditions are agreed between the two teams. Although, it may be unlikely that Brighton earn a profit on the deal.

Earlier this week, Romano revealed that talks had taken place and that O’Riley was being considered by Juve.

O’Riley made 124 appearances for Celtic, scoring 27 times and assisting on 35 occasions as well as winning six trophies during his time in Glasgow’s East End.
