Fabrizio Romano update on ex-Celtic loan flop

One of the more sensational stories of the opening of the window is that last season’s right-back misfit, Jonjoe Kenny has decided to reject the chance to stay on at his current club Everton in the English Premier League. This comes as quite the shock after all and sundry were shocked that the Toffees wanted to keep the full-back.

Kenny joined Celtic last January in a bid to bolster our options at the right-hand side of defence. The enthusiastic Evertonian always tried, but it’s safe to say he was largely underwhelming in his time in Glasgow’s East End. Equally as disappointing was his Uruguayan teammate and fellow loanee Diego Laxalt.

In truth both never looked right in a hooped shirt and were never going to be kept on after playing their part in our disastrous season under Neil Lennon. Kenny probably had more chance than Diego in all honesty, however after being quoted £5 million for his services I think most at Parkhead thought: ‘Nah, your alright’.

Transfer guru and Twitter celebrity, Fabrizio Romano, updated the social media network to inform everyone of the impending deals of several Everton players leaving on freedom of contract and that included Jonjoe. He also relayed the information that he had been offered fresh terms on a new deal, but has decided he would be best served leaving Gooodison Park.

A brave move from Jonjoe – we wish him all the best moving forward.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
