Fenerbahce ready to make official offer for Boyata

FENERBAHCE are ready to ‘make an official offer’ for Celtic’s Belgian World Cup star Dedryck Boyata according to reports in Turkey.

Boyata is now in the final year of his contract and having rejected a £9million bid for the want away defender just before the English transfer window closed, Celtic will moost likely bite off the Turkish side’s hands should they match the Fulham offer.

Boyata disgraced himself by refusing to play in the crucial Champions League play-off in Athens which Celtic lost 2-1 due to two shocking defensive errors, and then was a no-show for the Europa League play-off first leg in Lithuania last Thursday.

It will be interesting to se if Boyata features tomorrow in the return leg at Celtic Park, as some cynics in the Celtic support reckoned his latest no-show was down to not wishing to cup-tie himself for the group stages.

Boyata did play on Sunday against Hamilton and scored the only goal of the match to give Celtic the 3 points.

Brendan Rodgers has been reluctant to sell Boyata as there has not been an adequate replacement in the pipelines. That is a pretty disappointing admission, given the player left for the World Cup with a year on his existing contract remaining, and his new contract left on the Parched boardroom table, unsigned.
