First Beautiful Sunday of year before Brendan’s Barny

Yesterday was the first Sunday of the new year and it sure was a beautiful one before Brendan’s post match media conference…

Natural order was restored yesterday in the Scottish Premiership as Celtic got back to winning ways by comprehensively beating St Mirren to move 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Three day title challenge

Earlier in the daytime three day title challenge from theRangers derailed as Philippe Clement’s side slipped up by dropping two points at Easter Road after throwing away a two goal lead. And in doing so theRangers completely erased their feel good factor just days after the highlight of their season, winning the dead rubber challenge.

We went into the game knowing a victory would further stretch our already strong lead at the top, and we did just that by winning convincingly and somewhat making amends for the horror show at Ibrox.

Kuhn to the double

That man again Nicolas Kuhn again got us off the mark with a fine finish to put us one goal to the good, and Auston Trusty got his first goal for the club by heading in the second shortly before the interval.

The second half was merely a formality as we controlled the tempo and Kuhn put the game beyond doubt after capitalising on some shaky St Mirren defending due to a cute bit of skill by Arne Engels to make it 3-0.

13 points clear

Three goals, a clean sheet and further stretching our lead at the top in the first Sunday of the year. It sure was a beautiful one, not that Brendan Rodgers was satisfied as he turned his annoyance on the Celtic support in a remarkable post-match rant.

It was very uncharacteristic from Brendan and maybe there’s more to this than meets the eye. The KT song wasn’t  really that loud and the first many at the game knew about it was when the manager ranted about it being disrespectful to Greg Taylor.

And if there were groans from some supporters during the first half hour then that’s not something that’s new – it happens in just about every game that’s played.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
