Fixture Change: Celtic v Aberdeen Brought Forward By An Hour After UEFA’s Request

Sky Sports journalist, Anthony Joseph, has revealed that Celtic’s home league match against Aberdeen on Wednesday 17 February has been brought forward by an hour to kick off at 6pm.

The match was moved at UEFA’s request due to Champions League fixtures taking place that night, which the governing body don’t want to clash with the SPFL match, due to the impact on TV ratings.

This is allegedly normal practice and UEFA often request the same of English Premiership and Championship clubs in such a scenario. However, those clubs don’t always comply and instead pay the fine that follows.

The Dons take on the Rangers this weekend, when it is hoped that they will do Celtic a favour by taking a point or three.
