Former analyst to rejoin Celtic’s backroom team under Brendan Rodgers

Former Celtic analyst, Jack Lyons is to join Brendan Rodgers’ backroom staff once again at Paradise. The former blogger was picked up by the Irishman during his first spell in charge of the club, when he was mighty impressed with the work Lyons did and his attention to detail.

A job offer soon followed and the rest is history as they say. When Rodgers left Celtic Park acrimoniously back in February of 2019, he took the young analyst with him to the King Power Stadium, where he worked with Rodgers for four years. Now he has the chance to hook up with the former Liverpool and Watford boss.

According to a report in Scottish Sun, Rodgers will add Lyons to his backroom staff in the coming days, adding yet more brain power to an already astute footballing department. With Mark Lawwell and co. taking care of transfers these days, the addition of Lyons will help the new signings improve their game moving forward, as well as the aspiring ones already at the club.

One of Ange Postecoglou’s first signings as Tottenham Hotspur boss was Rodgers’ old winger at Leicester City, James Maddison. Maddison once remarked that Lyons had helped his game development whilst he was at the Foxes. As reported by Scottish Sun, he said: “I remember a game we played Sheffield, I always watch the games back and Jamie Carragher said in commentary that ‘James Maddison needs to get his numbers up if he wants to be challenging for the England spots and being talked about’.

“Me, the gaffer and Jack the analyst sat down – Jack will be buzzing that I name-dropped him. We sat down and looked at where I could get more goals. Playing a bit deeper, little things like breaking into the box, getting beyond that line and almost smelling where the ball is going to drop. It is not an easy thing to do. That is something I will keep improving on, scoring goals, because everybody wants numbers.”

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.

Feck, gie me a job tae, Brendan ffs! Maddison was told tae make runs in behind the defence, time his runs intae the box & anticipate where the ball will drop & he’ll score mare goals 🤷🏻‍♂️ rocket science that, eh?
    My tips for free:
If Joe Hart doesnae let any goals in & saves mare shots he’ll get mare clean sheets.
If Starshite doesnae make any mare mistakes .. ever, he’ll maybe be half decent.
If Maeda could just cross tae oor players & no sclaff it oot the park his pass accuracy will increase significantly. Same for shooting .. actually hit the target & he’ll score mare.
Ok, cannae keep givin this gold dust away for free. Email me Brendan & we can talk contracts etc 💚
